Global responsible investment specialist EIRIS has been selected by the Fonds de Réserve pour les Retraites (FRR) – one of Europe’s biggest state pension funds – to provide extra-financial risk analysis services for its global equity portfolio.

EIRIS News Release

The FRR will use the EIRIS Convention Watch service and controversial weapons screening service to track and mitigate extra-financial risks that could impact on the fund’s reputation. Convention Watch will enable the FRR to identify risks which may result from a failure by companies in which it invests to comply with the ten principles of the UN Global Compact – which are also reflected in international conventions ratified by France.

The FRR will use EIRIS’ analysis to assess instances of non-compliance with these fundamental principles and to assist in dialogue and engagement with companies. Additionally, the FRR will use EIRIS’s corporate news monitoring service to keep up-to-date with controversial news items which relate to companies in its global portfolio.

To help better serve the French market EIRIS has recently opened a new office in France. EIRIS’ Paris office builds on its established presence in other parts of Europe and will help it meet growing demand for environmental, social and governance research amongst French investors.

Nadia Laine, Senior Client Relationship Manager at EIRIS said: “We are delighted that the FRR has entrusted its extra-financial risk analysis to EIRIS. This news comes at an exciting time for us as we celebrate the opening of EIRIS’ Paris Office”.

Nada Villermain-Lécolier, head of responsible investment at FRR said: “EIRIS’ research will help us identify and analyse extra-financial risks linked to alleged violations of UN Global Compact principles, to ensure that we minimise any potential risk to the Fund’s reputation. EIRIS will also provide support to our responsible investment sub-committee regarding potential engagement activities”.
